On a not-so-sunny day

Recently I have been dreaming a lot. I dreamed of how proud my family feels about me when I return, dreamed of having an iPhone, dreamed of being promoted twice a  year, dreamed of being someone who's 文武双全 (I actually dreamed of myself singing on the stage - which is definitely not going to be true zzz), dreamed of passing an interview in 3 min (oh yeah only if I'm that great =.=), dreamed of starting a new venture on my own, etc...

Hell yeah keep dreaming, the next thing you know that you have just failed your exam. wth. And all your dreams can never happen if you even fail to get 2:1.

I'm so unmotivated to study :( Even The Star now interest me more than these freakin notes.

Sigh.

Moo moo ah Moo Moo

This is the weirdest cause of sickness I've ever known.

I'm sick now.

Why?

Because, I drank milk.

Milk?

Yes milk. Too much milk. 2-3 cups of fresh milk a day during winter, ever since I got addicted to the whole mlik >.<

So I'm sick now. BRRRRRRR.

Doctor Phang and Pharmacist Leong, please don't ask your future patients to drink fresh milk during winter!

Now I understand why Chefs are all Fat

I have a summary of my *almost* 3 years uni life here, in terms of FOOD.

1st year - very rajin! I even woke up early in the morning to cook and made lunch boxes before school.

2nd year - obviously a lot more lazier! I usually take breakfast and lunch together in one meal. Other than that, I took a lot of instant noodles!

3rd year - spending money as if I've free flow of money! At least 2 days of eating out per week! Oh no way, I'm cutting this down already haha. I'm more adventurous than last year though. Tried out a lot of new recipes (well, only one >.<), and invented a number of my own MJ's style dishes.

You guys must know what's the typical MJ's style dishes. Yeap prawns. Spicy. Easy. Sour... Heh. And usually, the mission of my cooking is, to clear up whatever food in the fridge. Hence the "special" (a nicer word for "weird") dishes.

Let me share with you what's my results so far:

Tuna Pasta
Ingredients: Tuna, Tomatoes, Onion, Pasta

Why tuna? Cuz I was very hungry the other day, without instant noodle, no fruits, no meat, no vege, no bread. So I used Tuna instead. And the preparation was very quick, 30min maybe?

Cheese Baked Salmon Pasta
Ingredients: Cheddar, Fresh Salmon, Mushrooms, Single cream, Garlic, Mixed herbs

This happened when I just came back from school, alone. I was very bored at home so decided to make this! Yeah this is from the recipe book btw. This took me almost 2 hours >.<

Egg Sandwich
Ingredients: Eggs (obviously), roti

Why Egg Sandwich for dinner? Cuz I bought 10 Big and Fresh eggs and have no idea how to finish them!!

Fish Porridge
Ingredients: River Cobbler, Spring onion, Ginger, Rice

I was so excited when I saw Tesco selling River Cobbler (it doesn't matter what fish it is, as long as it is fish!!) for only 2 pounds! Bought 2 packets of that >.<

 MJ's Spicy Seafood
Ingredients: River Cobbler, Prawns, Onions, Mushrooms, Chilli flakes

No idea what to call this lol. Hence my name up there XD

Stir-fry spinach
Ingredients: Baby spinach, carrots, garlic

I meant to 清炒 spinach only, the carrots are there cuz... I need to finish them. Baby spinach is the new vegetable I started to cook this year. Didn't dare to cook/eat it thanks to the yucky boiled spinach from Passfield in my first year. And thanks to YR for introducing this to me, now I love it!!

MJ's 招牌 pasta
Ingredients: Cherry tomatoes, Baby spinach, Prawns, Onion, Chilli flakes

This is my favorite dish which was only born today!! I seriously love this so much man... The ingredients matches so well with each other..

Love it! Love it! Love it!!!

Well, these are the summary of the more significant dishes I've made this term. Comments please!! =D

PK, wanna show us how do you microwave-cook your meals? =p

My weird habit

I realised there's a trend of things I buy. They all look nice in the outer appearance and are greeeeen!! Until yesterday when I was looking at bodyshop product online, I told YR, hey, this aloe vera thingy looks so nice! Must be very nice to use. Hee. And, it was this series of green too. >.< Thought i've shifted to blue, it seems not. Haha.

Oh ya. My shampoo and facial wash are green too. Oh and another green facial wash left aside in bathroom cuz I hate the cucumber smell.

You must be wondering how come i've so many bottles but do I actually use them? *drum rolls* Most of the skincare product - in green are left alone after a while. Yet I love to buy them >.< or shall I say, to look at them.

Did you see the blue pen in green? XD

When exam's near..

My messy messy room. Long time no wash milo cup. McD expired vouchers. Expired roti. Rubbish. Rubbish. And rubbish.

Posted using my new phone :)

What a bad day

If you're feeling down, this might not be a 'bad day' post for you, it's really not a big deal, but I feel really really really down, hence the bad day.

What a bad day.

The phone I've been waiting for weeks just arrived today. I was so happy about it till I realised I have to unlock it so that I can use my O2 number. I tried to get the unlock code online, hence paid 4 pounds + to a website. In return, I've got an email, saying,

HOW TO UNLOCK YOUR PHONE:
Option 1: Get your unlock code from Vodafone, ...
Option 2: Unlock your phone at a market stall/local independent seller, ....
Option 3: Unlock your phone with online retailer's code, ...
Option 4: Search for latest unlock software online, ...
Option 5: Unlock your phone with your own unlock clip, ...

You know I almost wanted to swear on it! 4 pounds for this @#$% email! WTH!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so I've decided to go to the 'market stalls' in Chinatown. That was already 10 to 5pm. I've French class at 6pm. So yeah I rushed to Chinatown, got a shop to unlock & install chinese for me. Then the shopkeeper said, you go out wander around for about 30min your phone should be done. Ok lor.. Go out lor. Then bought cake for dinner and ate outside the shop LOL. Then back to the shop, done! Then he asked me to check (and I was already can't wait to see). Then realised that Wi-Fi was missing! I asked him why and he said cuz it's the China version and China doesn't have a Wi-Fi Sony Ericsson phone YET so, like that lor. He helped me check the Hong Kong version also, but not out too. :( So he said, if you don't need the Wi-Fi then this version should work well. WTH!! The only thing I want from this phone is the Wi-Fi!!! I DON'T NEED IT?!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lol so I asked him to restore it back lor. That was about 5.40pm already. Then wait wait wait.....6pm I texted YR to tell her that I'll be late. 6.04pm she replied, TODAY GOT EXAM!!! WTH? FINAL EXAM? We didn't even get any notice about it. It's not pop quiz you know, FINAL EXAM! The exam to grade our french level, and also, to get the cert! WTH! I DIDN'T REVISE AT ALL!!! Walao. But I couldn't leave cuz my phone is still being processed. (And I don't trust chinatown ppl so i couldn't leave). So I thought, since already late, late mar late lor, lagi best if I miss it, then can tell teacher she never told us so I never turn up lor.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so I was really worried till 6.20pm (it's only 20minutes but it felt like ages!). Then the phone was done. BUT, it didn't get restored. It's some other OLD english version of Sony Ericsson. Ok lah there's Wi-Fi, but but, it's different from the original one already, no nice nice background and layout and all. :(((( Luckily the cute salesman returned my 5 pounds for not getting the chinese version, and unlocking was only 3 pounds. Yeah he's really cute. Heee.

Ok lah no time to think. Run run run. Actually I didn't run. I walked SLOWLY. LOL. And, guess what was in my mind. I kept hoping that one of the cars would come and bang me so that I won't have to go for the exam. LOL. Seriously. When I crossed the road, I thought, why no car one. >.< Then I reached the classroom. Everyone was busy doing the paper. And my teacher wasn't there. So I was sitting at the back daydreaming. Few minutes later another student came in. YAY I WASN'T ALONE! LOL. So both of us sat there and stare at the whiteboard. For quite a long time, 30min? Then the teacher came in and gave us the paper. And she collected the rests. So yeah, I had to do the paper. I did the paper while the teacher and students were making noise in class. HOW TO CONCENTRATE! :( And also I never prepare. HOW! Just screwed my test :( I have a strong feeling that I will fail the paper. UNLESS THE TEACHER IS TOO KIND. Which I doubt so. Brrr. The first question was to write a 180 words essay. (AND I HAVEN'T SEEN A SINGLE PAST YEAR BEFORE AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT KIND OF FORMAT WILL IT BE) But both my flatmates did revise, and both of them did past years before. :( I DIDN'T EXPECT AN EXAM SO SOON. :( Ok back to topic. So the essay, I wrote about 100 words. Then my brain couldn't produce anything liao :(

Then after the test, on my way back. I felt so down. Thought about my phone. Thought about my french exam. Haihhh. And thought about my phone again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tomorrow I'll try to go to Vodafone to see if they can restore it. *praying hard*

What a bad day.

感言: Seriously this doesn't seem like a bad day. Lol. And I believe if I look back sometime later, I will be thinking - 小孩子没有看过世面. XD

Mushrooms!

Few statements about mushrooms:
  • I love mushrooms!
  • I've decided to spend the money I used to spend on meat, to buy my favourite 香菇.
  • I used to love chestnut mushrooms, but, dinner with chestnut mushrooms only was a torture.
  • My vegetarian meal tasted horrible until I bought 香菇.
  • I told SH that by June I can plant mushrooms in my room due to long-time-no-clean.
  • Few hours later I realised there were actually mushrooms growing in my long-time-no-wash bowl in my room!
  • And PK said they were funghi!
  • And I said it approximates mushrooms. I don't know bio so if it's approximately the same then it's the same.
  • And PK asked, in math you don't put approximately the same Same as same right?
  • And I said, approximately the same can be same with same.
  • So, SH said, bio vs math = half dead = same.
Ok this actually has nothing to do with mushrooms.

Between the North and South America - Honduras (Part I)

Yeap people. I am back! It was such a torture with limited internet access there. Only got to online twice, the first internet cafe was run by the charity organisation in Honduras, which costs me 2 dollars for 10 minutes. How horrible! The second one was in the tourist area, 50 cents for 30 minutes! :)

My poor diary. Thanks to my forgetfulness this miserable mini notepad has become my diary for 16 days! Imagine how many pages I needed for each day. Lol.

Day 1 (The Flying Day)
A 9 hours flight, followed by a 4 hours flight, and a 5 hours flight after one night laying over in the airport. I was cursing those people who designed the arm rests for the chairs in airport. If it wasn't because of them I could have laid down properly and had a good night rest. Grrr. MAS is actually good in the hospitality - in the sense that, the stewards and stewardesses are young, and fit! Those in Continental airlines are all old and fat! Like, seriously. Anyway, they have a really cool touch screen monitor for entertainment! I was really excited about it. And thanks to that I've learnt a new game - Backgammon! [PK: I watched Twilight II in the plane! Not as good as the first one though] Me and my travelling partners were so blur that we checked in twice for the connecting flights, and printed 2 sets of boarding pass for each. XD

The picture of the day! The flight route before we touched down in Newark.
Day 2
Reached Tegucigalpa! It was so hot! Just like home! But it was really dusty over there :(

I find the buses there really cute! There's another type with the head looking like the lorry's head. XD.

And they are very LONGGGGGGG. (This the one with the lorry head)

Went to visit the famous El Picacho! It isn't as big as I thought though.

Something that you wouldn't expect. I didn't expect that either. They have TGI's Friday, Burger King, Baskin Robbins, Dunkin Donuts, etc. Basically, any fast food restaurant you can find in US, you can have it here. However, all these can only be found here in the capital, and some of them can be found in the tourist area.

The local food: tortilla wraps with red bean paste and cheese. Not my type :S They have lots of fried bananas too. Almost all of the dishes there have fried bananas. (not like our pisang goreng though, it's like the thin and crispy kind of snacks)

Tell me what is the paper clip doing up there on the fan. lol.

*Oh god! It's only Day 2*

Day 3
Oh no since I forgot to mention about this earlier I shall tell it now. There are few things to note in Honduras: You can't drink the tap water there as you can get Typhoid due to some reasons. And you can't flush toilet papers into toilet bowl BECAUSE the diameter of the pipes there are really small so it get stuck very easily.

There were two different organizations presenting two different models to help the poor.

FINCA - A microfinance bank formed by this organisation to give out loans for the poor who are unable to get access to the traditional banks. They even provide group loans for people who don't borrow the minimum amount required. High interest rate but lower compared to loan sharks.

CAJA RURAL - A rural bank formed by the villagers for the villagers which based in that village only. The shareholder invested in the bank, and the bank give out loans for villagers. The loan amount is smaller compared and a reasonably high interest rate applied but still lower compared to FINCA.

Although FINCA claimed that they're a non-profit organization, we still think that they are commercialised. In the evening we were sent to a very nice resort-like place. The driver said we were to use the highway to get there so I was expecting nice and straight smooth road. Mana tau it was just like when we're going to some ulu places in Pahang - with all the curvy roads. =.= At night, I talked to my team mates and I only found out that one of them is gay. I didn't expect something like that and I have never met someone who's not straight so I was quite shocked. (I didn't show it out la of course) But he's a really nice guy to get along with.

Day 4
Woke up at 6am to shower. Freaking cold shower >.< Done showering in 2 minutes? Lol. Departed to the village after breakfast. NOW I KNOW WHY DID THEY CALL THE ROAD HIGHWAY. On the way to the village, the roads were HORRIBLE and BUMPY! Like, for 2 hours of that. The driver was telling me, we're going there *pointing to one of the mountains*. FYI, there were many many many mountains in that area and THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME! Really 佩服 the driver. I felt like I was in a desert because, it was the dry season over there, and all trees are dried, can't really see much green plants. Ok back to topic. Then we arrived in the village. The community welcome us in the church (the only place with electricity in that village besides the school). Sang some of the local songs. Then they brought us to look around the village = climb from one hill to another. UNDER THE HOT SUN CUZ THE TREES ARE ALL DRIED WITH NO LEAVES. Everyone staying quite far apart from each other on the hills. Yeap literally on the hills. You really have to CLIMB to get from house to house. No proper road at all. And I slipped a few times (damn embarrassing). Really steep what, what to do. On the way back to church, one of the locals made some snacks for us.

The locals call this the "dog biscuits" since it's just like street dogs - you can find this everywhere.

Our lunch. With chicken, potato, tomato, carrots and cous cous in it. I only had the vege. Didn't dare to drink the soup because it's not made by filtered water (might get typhoid). Didn't dare to eat the chicken because that area is not really hygiene. But it was nice though.

There was a really cute kid showed us her school when we passed by.

Then back to church and talked to the Caja Rural committee to know how they are doing and what they need.

*It's only Day 4 and it's killing meeeeee*

*Ok stop here. Continue later*

URGENT: NEED HELP!

Hey people,

Anybody knows whether we've taken these vaccinations before?
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Tetanus
  • Typhoid
I am recommended to take these vaccinations before going, and if took them within 10 years, retaking them now will make me ill. Also, if I've taken two dozes for anyone of them, that effect can last for 20 years. I just checked my birthcert, I've taken Hep B and something DPT (guess Tetanus is in it), but the thing is, it was 20 years ago already, not counted. So I was wondering if I have taken any during primary school and secondary school. I remember I had a doze of Polio, and 2 other vaccines, altogether, but can't remember when, and what. And then you know la, I can't remember all these bio terms, so I'm here looking for your help! Pleaseeeeee

Hehe thank you in advance!

Options meeting without options

Dear All,

Just a quick reminder about your options meeting which will take place on Thursday,11th March - 13.00 to 13.30 in NAB104.  Dr Dassios will guide you through your various options. Please do make every effort to attend as the information will be vital for helping you to make your choices.

I had an options meeting with the Actuarial Science tutor today, supposedly to brief us on our 'various' options to choose subjects next year.

And the tutor said, "basically all the third year subjects are compulsory, unless you want to forego the exemptions for professional papers, then you can drop two of them, if not, you have no options to choose."

And our meeting ended in 10 minutes.

I'm SO in trouble

In one of the classrooms in New Academic Building, 9.00pm.

"So now, Solvency II. Has anyone here heard about Solvency II before?"

*Silence*

"Nobody?"

*Silence*

*Looks around*

*Scratches head*

"Nobody?"

*Silence*

"Anyone here applying for jobs?"

*Still silence*

"Ok, what about internships?"

*Few hands raised..*
*I was wondering whether to raise or not XD*

"Let me tell you. You guys are SO in trouble."

*Serious faces*

"You guys are SO SO SO SO in TROUBLE. That is one of the most important criteria we're looking from the candidates, to show how well they know about their interests."

"You guys are really SO in trouble."

Yeah I'm SO dead.

Yeap.

Definitely need to do something before I got rejections from the firms in Malaysia as well.

P/S: I think PK can be a very good "long-gas" story teller. HAHA.

Also, it wasn't a sunny and warming morning. Well, it is sunny, but it's BLOODY COLD here.
